The easiest way is to provide a cool, shady spot at home for your pet; choose cooler times of the day for walks and make sure they have plenty of water. If you decide to spend your day in the heat, be sure to offer your dog cooling options!

During winter, salt is often used on streets to combat ice. When walking your pet on such streets, try to avoid salty areas, allowing them to walk on grass beside the road instead. If walking on salty roads is unavoidable, consider purchasing special footwear to protect their paw pads from painful cracking.
